“When things settle down at work, I am going to spend
some quality time with my wife.”
“When I retire, I’m going to finally get around
to touring Europe.”
“When the kids are grown, I am going to start my own
business.”
“I’m going to learn how to fly a plane once I
get some free time.”
“When I get through with this project, I’m going
to volunteer for a mission trip.”
“One of these days I’m going to write a book of
poetry.”
“Maybe next year I’ll take that woodworking class.”
Sound
familiar? What part of your life is on hold today, waiting
for some future time, event or situation? We have all heard
the sad stories about people whose life ends before getting
around to their dream. Could this happen to you? What dream
would you be leaving behind if today were your last day on
earth? Some of the most fulfilled lives on earth are lived
by those who know they only have a limited time left. What
would you do if you only had twelve months of living ahead
of you? What would you stop putting off and start moving towards?
Many times we see our dreams as too big and complex to fit
into our current life. We often think we don’t have
enough time, enough money, enough knowledge, enough support
to create what we want. But small steps add up to big dreams
and there is always room for small steps. Sometimes we just
don’t know where to start so we just stand still. But
doing anything is better than doing nothing. We may even feel
that we don’t deserve our dreams, that pursuing them
might be selfish. But who deserves to not have their dreams
come true?
We all
have a limited time left on this earth. Few of us know exactly
how much that is, but we can change our lives to take the
most advantage of the time we have remaining. If now is not
the time to begin to live your best life, when is a better
time? What if that better time never comes? Is what you have
today enough? If not… |

Consider how you would change your life tomorrow if you had
a limited time left to live it. Ask yourself the following
questions:
• What have I been putting off, waiting for just the
right moment to come along?
• Have I become the person I want to be remembered for?
• What part of my life would be unimportant to me if
I knew I wouldn’t be here next year?
• What part of my life would become most important?
• What would I really regret if I never got around to
it?
Shift
a portion of your energy away from what you identified as
unimportant and take three small actions towards that important
part that has been on hold. You’ll be there before you
know it! Life is short – too short to live on hold with
a busy signal. |

die tomorrow."
